We have free craft bags for pre-K, elementary and middle school kids. This month’s crafts are Dr. Seuss and Thing One/Two Themed! Plus games, puzzle sheets and coloring pages. No library card required.

April 7 – 13 is National Library Week! This Year’s theme is “Ready, Set, Library!”
Stop by the Jeannette Public Library and rediscover all of the things that make our hometown library special. Of course their are books, but there are also DVDs, computers and programs of all kinds! There are also fax, printing and copying services. And don’t forget the extraordinarily cool people­čśÄ who work there and love making your visit a good one.

“The Orphan Train” by Christina Baker Kline. Rich in detail and epic in scope, this is a powerful novel of upheaval and resilience, of unexpected friendship, and the secrets we carry that keep us from finding out who we are. To participate, call the library. Books will be available for pick-up by Wed., March 6.

SATURDAY APRIL 13: 11AM – NOON. It’s Family Time Around the Reading Rug!
We will have books to read, a craft, some movement and as always a snack! This story time is geared for families with children ages 4 through 8; but we don’t turn anyone away!

Earth Day is April 22nd and the Jeannette Public Library has got you covered! This year’s theme is
Planet vs. Plastics and if you’re age 12-17 then this one’s for you. We will have “The Case of the Broken Loop” packets available from April 17th through April 30th. You’ll follow the detective through a series of worksheets to learn more about recycling. If you get stuck don’t worry! Answers will be provided.

April 18, 2024: Volunteer Fair
Come meet the Westmoreland Heritage Partners to learn about meaningful volunteer opportunities with the museums, historical sites, nature conservancies, performance groups and festivals in Westmoreland County. ALL AGES WELCOME!

MAY 1 – MAY 31: Help us Celebrate Smokey the Bear’s 80th Birthday
By joining our Reading Challenge (ages 4-12). Stop in to pick up your Reading Challenge Log and a packet of materials to celebrate Smokey’s 80th Birthday. Included in the packet is a put the hat on Smokey Game and a FlatSmokey to color, cut out, and take places. Hopefully you’ll post some of the places your Smokey has gone with you. Check out our Facebook Page to see where my FlatSmokey has been with me! When you have completed the Reading Challenge, stop at the Library to receive stamps for completed Badges and a Gift Bag!
