CRAFT BAGS: We have free craft bags for pre-K, elementary and middle school children. This month’s crafts are Spring themed. Plus games, puzzle sheets and coloring pages.

GED CLASSES: Looking for free GED classes? They’re held twice a week in the library. Call 724-755-2330 Ext. 133 to register.

WLN is sponsoring a Passport program this summer. Visit libraries in Westmoreland County and get your passport stamped. More info will be provided soon.

COMING SOON: It’s time for the annual Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme is All Together Now. And it will be in person again, as well as online. Start date to begin logging your reading progress is June 12. Look for the links for online reading log soon, or come in for a folder with paper log and other fun stuff. See below for our summer events. Check out our Wednesday “All About …” sessions. Features a different country each week, with books, activity sheets, crafts, demonstrations, recipes and more. Something for everyone!

SATURDAY, JUNE 10 AT 11 AM: Storytime – Join us for a Father’s Day craft and two stories. Snack provided.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14: All About Mexico! 1 – 2 pm. Craft activity & more! Plus: at 6 pm “Our Feathered Friends” – presentation about our birdwatching backpack, and craft provided by the Westmoreland Land Trust. Suitable for ages 5 – 12. Space is limited – call or stop in to register.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21: All about Greece! 1 – 2 pm.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 28: All About Australia! 1 – 2 pm.

WEDNESDAY JULY 5: All About the United States! 1 – 2 pm.

THURSDAY, JULY 6: 6:00 pm to 6:50 pm. All Together Now Magic Show with Magician Steve. For children, but fun for the whole family.

SATURDAY, JULY 15: 10:30am – Noon. A visit from “The Bug Lady” and her real live insects. Suitable for pre-K and up. Registration is requested but not required.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 26: 1 – 2 pm. All About Africa!

SATURDAY, JULY 29: Visit the library’s booth at Summerfest in the Magee Ave. parking lot. Play a game, win prizes.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 12: 11:00 AM. Storytime arond the Reading Rug, and an End of Summer Celebration. End of the summer reading game.

Does Your Business Need Technical Assistance with Technology?

The Jeannette Initiative, through its endowment with the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, is making a free technical assistance service available to businesses located in the Jeannette Central Business District (CBD). This service will allow eligible businesses to attend, free of charge, any of the YWCA of Westmoreland County’s existing training sessions dealing with various hardware and software matters.
